It is a hostel, which is why the rooms weren't cleaned on a daily basis according to the receptionist upon check-in, but it was much cleaner than many hotels I've stayed in. I tend to be very critical of the cleaning methods, but in my room, even all the corners were clean, something that is often overlooked. I had a private room, so I can't say anything about the dorm rooms. The room was small, but practical. The only thing I would have liked is some more space to put toiletries in the bathroom. The hostel is also very close to bus and metro stops (Estrecho), so even though it's quite a distance to the well-known sights, bus 3 (or metro 1) can take you there while you see some of the rest of the city. There are plenty of shops and restaurants in the area too, so you don't have to go to the city center if you don't want to.

This is a hostal and co-working space, not a typical hotel. Staff are friendly and efficient. WiFi works well. There is a communal kitchen with a piano. Several customers played the piano beautifully during our stay. There is a third floor terrace that is OK, but not spectacular. We had our own room with bathroom. It was small, but well equipped with a refrigerator and microwave oven. No plates or utensils, but you could borrow those from the communal kitchen. The location is good, there is a Mercado three blocks away with restaurant/bars, a large supermarket, and other vendors. The Metro stop is two blocks away, on a busy street with many shops and services. The place has a modern vibe with interesting use of colored lighting, both inside and outside the room.

Check-in was easy, and the trip from the airport was easy, quick.... great for not having to think too much when jet-lagged. I liked that I was in an area that I could walk around, feeling safe while trying to get in as much daylight as I could to deal with a Transatlantic flight. For me the 2km walking distance to the train station was *just right* for heading out on the camino the next day. As I was not staying in Madrid, I did not need a fancy hotel or the cost of same. Far better to be close to the supermarket and other amenities so that I could prepare to leave efficiently the next day.

Even though my first stay was very short but definitely i have a couple of positive things to say about the place. They have a 24h reception which made it easy for me since ai arrived at 2 am to the place. The location is excellent as it is very close to a train station and it’s also accessible by the bus. The beds were clean and very comfortable. Can’t say much about the bathrooms since I only got to sleep there and leave.

Modern facilities. Internet worked well during my stay (calls on zoom went smooth). Both my private room and the shared bathroom were clean, the bathroom didn’t seem to be shared with too many people. Staff were kind and welcoming. Breakfast was great, the lady in charge of it is very sweet as well. It’s close to the metro station. Easy to reach. The shared areas (kitchen, kitchen mezzanine, terrace) were very pleasant.
